Dear Cunningham Park Families and Friends,

Join me in welcoming Jon Kemmerer to the Cunningham Park family as our new Assistant Principal!  Mr. Kemmerer comes to us from Langston Hughes Middle School, where he was Assistant Principal for three years.  Before that, he taught 1st, 2nd, and 6th grades, and was a middle school PE teacher.  He regularly supported students as a member of the Local Screening Committee during his tenure in both elementary and middle school. 

A proud Wahoo, Mr. Kemmerer earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Virginia, where he also played baseball.  As you can imagine with that history, he enjoys sports - he even coached South Lakes High School basketball with Coach Wendell Byrd.

Mr. Kemmerer is excited for this move to Cunningham Park to get back to his elementary school professional roots in a school that is richly diverse and that believes in enriched learning for all children.  His previous experiences in working at an elementary school with a Level IV AAP Center and in a middle school with International Baccalaureate have given him a wealth of knowledge about meaningful and challenging instruction to meet all students’ learning needs.

Come out and welcome Mr. Kemmerer at our Open House on Thursday, August 23rd at 1-2:30pm.  I can’t wait for you to meet him!
