Small But Mighty 

Cunningham Park Elementary, home of the Cardinals, is a small but mighty school with a little over 400 students in grades PreK through 6th grade. Cunningham Park Elementary serves a diverse population with 20 different languages spoken and students from over 20 different countries represented.

Our librarian was awarded the prestigious title of 2023-2024 Region 1 Teacher of the Year.

Cardinals Care for Cardinals 

Our sixth-grade student leaders, Cardinals Care for Cardinals, dedicate their recess time every day to mentoring and assisting our first-grade students.

Building on Success

Cunningham Park Elementary School demonstrated significant academic growth in science, achieving a 15% increase in 2023-2024 science SOL scores.

Shirley's Garden 

Our beautiful bird and butterfly garden supports science education and outdoor learning. It was named after Shirley Ifft, who dedicated more than 20 years to our school as Administrative Assistant. We also have a community garden, which we use for science lessons such as archeological digs, vegetable growing, and more!

Strong Mentors 

Cunningham Park Elementary School partners with Belong! and Mentorworks to provide students with twice-weekly mentoring, guidance, and support after school. 

Family Events

We have many opportunities for families to connect with our school through our PTA, including Pizza Picnics, International Night, Walk and Bike to School Days, and more!

Cunningham Park Elementary School has strong partnerships with local organizations which support our students with the resources, opportunities, and tools they need to thrive. This includes All Kids Bike, which helps each of our Cardinals learn how to ride a bike in kindergarten PE class!

As a member of the Madison Pyramid, we are now in our third year of the One Campaign, emphasizing the message "You Belong Here" to convey a sense of inclusivity and belonging to our students and community.
